Boys Basketball (Ages 9-12) CANCELLED
From beginners to advanced, this school is designed to meet the needs of specific ages with emphasis on basic skill fundamentals. Emphasis is on individual and team play in a high energy, fun filled atmosphere. Competition and contests are offered to motivate and improve performance. Individual and team awards are given out, as well as a t-shirt and ball. The morning sessions will be directed by Tiffany Stewart, HCC head coach. Seth Willingham, Oakland Mills HS physical education teacher will direct the afternoon sessions. Coed Soccer (Ages 5-8) CANCELLED
The goal of this camp is to meet the needs of younger boys and girls when playing soccer. Using the approach of a two year movement in England, called "GIVE US BACK OUR GAME," it will give children the freedom to play simply for fun and with-out adult pressure. This will include playing small side games on small fields, individual time to work on skill development, and playing 8-10 minute games on a round robin basis. A soccer festival will be held on the last day of camp. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and ball. Throughout the week, focus will be on the following: conditioning and proper stretching, general training principles, drills & technique, start & technique, race preparation, relays, and film breakdown. Directed by HCC head coach Errick Henlon. Errick has worked with several major high schools in his home country of Jamaica. During his coaching tenure at Howard County high schools he developed several state champions in the sprints and hurdles. At HCC, Errick has guided 19 All-Americans at the NJCAA Division III Nationals, along with being named National Track Coach of the year for Men in 2004 and 2007. These sessions will target proper nutrition and an overall fitness program designed for this age group. A variety of sport activities and exercises designed to improve cardiovascular,strength and endurance in a fun setting. Separate groups based upon age.
